Updated instructions on the add image to post feature
« on: February 25, 2009, 04:34:27 PM »
Unfortunately, the add image to post feature doesn't work with the WYSIWYG editor but for the time being, I'm leaving the link on the site because you can get it to work by turing off the WYSIWYG editor.

If you want to upload an image, before you do this, go into your profile and click>>
Modify Profile>>
Look and Layout

Look down the list of options and take the check mark out of the box next to Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default?

Click, change profile and then open a message window and add your image.
This applies to messages using the reply button or for a new topic.

If you want to add your image using the quick reply box, you'll have to go into your profile and look at the next option down>>
It will look like this:

Choose Quick Reply Type  WYSIWYG (with bbc buttons and smilies) WYSIWYG (with bbc buttons only) WYSIWYG (with smilies only) WYSIWYG Only Non-WYSIWYG (with bbc buttons and smilies) Non-WYSIWYG (with bbc buttons only) Non-WYSIWYG (with smilies only) Non-WYSIWYG (standard)

Change the drop down list to one of the "non-WYSIWYG" that still shows BBCs.

When you're done picking either option and  you want the WYSIWYG editor back, go back into your profile and just change everything back.

I'm hoping someone from one of the help sites can figure out a way to make this work without having to disable the WYSIWYG editor but in the meantime, this will work if you follow these instructions.

It did not work for me following your instructions.  No picture here....
Think of how different it would be if you never met the one person who changed everything.

Did you make this change before you opened a message?
Did you remember to click change profile?

It works for me without any problems.
That's how I inserted this picture into the post.

One other thought. Did you use the quick reply or just click reply?
It won't work in the quick reply box unless you make a change to that too to disable the WYSIWYG editor.
Sorry. I should have mentioned that too.
I'll edit my instructions.

You were right, in that I was using the quick reply.  I love you, you are brilliant.

I've added a link to postimage.org in the left side panel.
It will open in a new window so you can upload a picture and then copy the correct code into a message.
I'll explain everything once I get this new layout completed but I just wanted to be sure you all knew you could upload images if you click that link.
You don't have to change your profile in order to use the link in the left panel.

The add image to post works again without having to turn off the WYSIWYG editor.

The link to add an image has moved to right above the message box, under the smileys.
If you click that link, you can locate an image on your computer and upload it to an online storage location that's never suppose to delete your images.
The codes will automatically appear in a message.
You won't see your image until you hit post or preview.

If you want to add any image to a message, I'd appreciate it if you do it this way.
If you need any help, just hollar.

That reminds me of an Indian poncho I saw once.

I'm trying out the additonal options to see if I can load an image directly from my computer.   If you see a photo, you can.   If not, I guess you can't.

I don't know how I got two of them but it did work but it was very slow.   I have two of those ponchos which my mother knitted and I will never part with them.
